I was born in Houston, Texas in 1956. My family moved to Lake Forest, Illinois when I was a teenager. Many trips to Chicago's Art Institute inspired an already acquired love for art, for which my mother Betty Geneser was greatly responsible. Growing up, life was art—food, clothing, interiors, gardening, music, nature. My mother had a particular love for the Latin culture and their beautiful vibrant works, for which I also developed a passion. I moved back to Texas in 1976 and landed in Austin where I have lived ever since. After the birth of my daughter Sally Myles in 1983, I was encouraged by friends and family to pursue my talent. So began my journey. I focused on pastel on paper. I have used life, nature and my own eye as my teacher.
